When French duke William the Conqueror invaded England and conquered Anglo-Saxon forces at the Battle of Hastings, it marked the end of Anglo-Saxon England.  The Bayeux Tapestry tells the story of the end of the Anglo-Saxon chapter and exists as possibly the last and absolutely the best known example of Anglo-Saxon artwork.
